TGIFF

Ah, 2:39 am...so quiet, so peaceful...Tuffy sleeping here in the "Blue Room" with only the white glare of the computer and a tiny teal lamp beaming on him. He is gracing me with his presence.
Photo is a vignette of the kitchen, guess I should've posted it when the Red Wings were "hot" so long ago ;o(
Not much to say, but wanted to be here, a place where I collect my thoughts and my photos and share them out in the "ethers" (ether that or I just make an ath of mythelf!)
In the morning going to see UP at the Disney 3D with some friends-rated 5-star! Jeff and I took "vacation days" his first since last Sept and I don't remember when for me, except thankful for holidays now and then (but, oh, how I wish neighbors wouldn't blow off fireworks, ie bombs! and scare all the wildlife out there...and pets, dogs who are tied to doghouses and perhaps the baby fawn born just a day or two ago who rested down in "The Garden" (an acre that Dad used to grow and now we mow).
Got to talk to an old friend from high school tonight ... it was so much fun laughing about dumb shit we did and cracking up. Also left a msg for my ex-husband who is very ill ... felt good when he left a msg back. I will call him soon to talk. He has end stage cirrhosis and it's been 2 yrs. He sounded weak but he is strong in many ways.
Got to catch up on our days, my darlin' and me, and watch an episode of "Firefly". I feel so blessed to live here in the home I grew up in, married to my brother's good friend, with a cat who bought his "Paw" the collector's edition of Serenity...the movie that ties up the loose ends of the Firefly series for "Paw's Day" Sunday. (We'll use any excuse to get and give gifts around here! ;oD)
So...Bloggie Souls...have yourselves a very fine weekend and hold those dear to you in your hearts and let 'em know you are. I care ... I even care about myself! My cup runneth over and over and ...oh, yeah, it's 2:52 am now. Still quiet, still peaceful. Ahhhhhh....sigh.....'night, now.

A Poem just rediscovered

July Moon with Lily in Hand
Standing alone near the pond
in the middle of the yard
toes getting wet in dewy grass
Wearing only that knife-pleated
purple lace nightie
see-thru and cut to her ass
with the Full Moon in Capricorn
Sun now in Cancer--
opposing oppositionals
rare
As the sliver of cloud
traced the lips of the Moon as it
lit up the white of her hair
She sang "when the
deep purple falls"
to the sleepy stone wall
while three verses of Summertime
flowed
She was awestruck with passion
and grateful for
one day
when living was easy and slow
swaying softly and singing
in the Guatemalan hammock
adorned with purple ropes
she could tell that
the knife-pleats were
cutting a swath
as the Moon's face shed sad
woman tears
Holding a lemony lily
condemned to only
one day of life on the vine
she kept singing to the sky
a swell of tears in her eyes
knowing full well
that Life wasn't fair
but she waited and sang
and lie down as she languished
in the deep purple night
in a deep purple gown
with that yellow lily
in hand
her voice was quite clear
resonating beyond
her lost dreams taken hostage
that night
a one-woman band
dying bloom in her hand
while the Moon shone and then
faded on.

Flowers for the Smeltzer Families

Poem for Jane

To my friend Jane and her family. Today is their mother, Dorothy's, funeral up north and I sure would like to have been there.
I reprint this poem I wrote for a friend's mother a long time ago.
Dorothy died May 24th, during the New Moon.
My family members had died during Full Moons and it presented me with the feelings to write this one down.
To Honor Dorothy Smeltzer:
Moon phases
Keep paces
Reflections of the Light
Dance to the beat
of the One Heart
Celebrate the feat
of Living
New Moon to Full
Hard to resist the pull
When the Light is
so bright
And the Soul will
abide
by the Call of
the Tide.

Watch and listen to Joni Mitchell ... gorgeous Robbie Robertson

I was watching some awesome Grand Funk Railroad on my SisSTAR Rhi's blog and decided to search a few things also ... we've enjoyed watching mott the hoople, savoy brown, spooky tooth, and now I choose to post this one. Please click ... she was always one of my favorites and I always loved learning all the lyrics and it wasn't all that easy sometimes. Ever hear the Dry Cleaner from DeMoines? Enjoy... love, SisSTAR xoxo (don't let the stars get in your eyes, don't let the moon break your heart, Darlings!)

I Can Tell It's Spring....

... I opened my gas bill just now and had a credit balance from our budget plan so no pmt this month AND the budget $$ for next yr is $7 cheaper per month! Yeah! I guess 60 degrees all winter long helped out and me being such a Red Hot Mama and all, well, it was just no big thang! Now to keep the air cond at a "reasonable" temp. Hey! I don't mind being cold, but I don't like being hot (despite the Red Hot Mama discrepancy above).
It felt so good to mow the lawn today. We have our old trusty Toro rider and it takes me about 2 hrs to do it, and Jeff winged his weed wacker all over the place, so we made a good team. He's been doing so much yard work, I just wanted to help him out. We found some big patches of wild strawberries so we are mowing around those and wacking the weeds off above them in hopes for some luscious berries ... except, gee, we have so many birds and critters all over, it'll be a toss up. Will be time to make rhubarb sauce or "crisp" soon - yum!
Bought 4 purple pots, 2 very large, and planted gorgeous giant pansies in them, with purple daisies, some perennial tansy, etc. The dark purple iris featured here is blooming in more quantity than ever before, and our lilacs are a a heady scented "bower" as we drive in the driveway, as well as a mammoth 20' "bush" in the other acre we see from our living rm. Best blooms ever. And then there's the damned poison ivy. Gotta do something about that. Sprayed it last yr and it did well, but came back hardier than ever. Tuffy thinks it's cute to walk around in it and then come in and rub on us...real nice!
Wish us luck that we can get all the flower beds transplanted where they're too thick and try and keep the shintangle from overgrowing us. Someday you might find us sitting in the living rm, the TV long run out of juice, with spider webs all over us, remotes in our hands, with grape vines, wild rose and blackberry canes, poison ivy, sumac and deadly nightshade consuming our house, blocking the windows and doorways, the cotton poplar billowing cotton fronds all over the roof ... can't you just see it now? So please! please wish us luck that we can get this jungle under control (and then there's my bedroom!)
I have missed all you bloggies ... if there's any of you left out there in my absence. I used to have a small fan base of 1 or 2 people, but, alas, I could be The Lone Blogger - Hi Ho Silver, and away.........^;^ meow
Love from your SisSTAR xoxo
Enjoy your Springtime ... it is so fleeting, sort've like life itself!

Happy New Moon in April

It's frog and toad singing time. Mesmerizing sounds of frogs emanating from the pond...puts me in a trance! Saw the bullfrog today. Seems as if he overwintered well. Can you see this one in the photo? I was amazed to capture this shot, like he was on a parent's lap looking up with adoration! In Native American spirituality, they say the frogs sing in the rains, and that's definitely true for today! Heavy downpours several times with winds making me think there was going to be a tornado. I thought of sharing this photo with everyone. It is quite camouflaged but you can probably click on it to see it better. I have quite the relationship with these awesome bullfrogs. Sometimes they truly talk to me and I go out there and sing with them, though I haven't done that yet. Maybe tomorrow...in the meantime, enjoy these April showers that bring May flowers and all the newness growing before your eyes. I hear those frogs serenading the darkness...that black hole of a New Moon out there. I think I posted my poem entitled "New Moon in April" last year at this time so I won't do it again, but I've been humming it last couple of days without even knowing it was the new moon! And I have, once again, felt like the eye of the tornado at its calm center. Not a bad place to be.

Beautiful spring Friday night

A friend sent me an email with this video and since I haven't managed the skill of "embedding" videos yet, I will retype the site and ask that you please click on and enjoy. Took me awhile to realize that all the musicians are playing simultaneously from around the world. It is amazing and humbling.

I've missed my blog ... got "urged" to join "Facebook" but I prefer this blog...not as chaotic and it's what I make of it. Those who choose to "read me" and comment embellish it positively, but the end result is that it is a place I like to go to share my Soul ... my Self ... sometimes my humor and sometimes some anger ... but always offering love and friendship...from your SisSTAR xo

Enjoy some music from Mother Earth:

Have a great spring weekend. Daffodils, grape hyacinths, dandelions and vinca blue flowers blooming, even a tiny Chinese forget-me-not ... and inside the home: my brother's Hoya plant has 2 lovely clusters wide open, my Grandma Haswell's ancient Christmas cactus is blooming again!! this time for Easter with 5 more gorgeous blooms ... a white shamrock and a purple shamrock blooming and my Angel Wing Begonia is nearly as tall as me!! I'm rooting a cutting of it for the daughter of the lady who gave it to me just before she died ... back in 1994! Tuffy Boy has a great garden full of catnip that he's cultivating and pruning regularly! ^;^ and lots of wild violas are springing up everywhere. Soon we shall hear the frogs in the pond, I betcha!

Love and blessings from your SisSTAR xoxoxo

A Poem...

LOOK WITHIN

look within, be not afraid to feel whatever's there
first step is to look inside, don't hide from your own fear
face it, the disgrace you felt was undeserved, let go
pull the curtain up and let the Light shine through to you
slow your steps, turn back, don't run away from the Child within

take her gently by the hand get to know her, cry
hold her closely on your lap, see if she will smile
she is that deep part of you you've suppressed so long
she won't die, tho' you've wanted her to, but she's always been among
your terror, anger, rage and doubts of your own sanity
the babe began her life involved in hushed profanity
forgive, forgive again! what do you have to lose?
confront the horrors you perceive that were a part of you
cry out in rage and beat your fists, fight the ghosts inside
they will not die, they cannot die if you must live that lie
dig up the hurts, cut them to shreds, embrace the Child within
get to learn to give her love, the love she never had

dig up the fears, the reasons why your hardened heart's so cold
then read your story like a book before you grow too old
don't let what's buried deep inside destroy your Here and Now
dig it up and look at it then if you think you could
burn it in a funeral pyre and let it go for good

let the young girl hid within find her real Soul
realize she is your strength, the way to feel more whole
to her be kind with gentleness and help her feel at ease
then you shall integrate yourself and truly live in peace.
