A Poem...

LOOK WITHIN

look within, be not afraid to feel whatever's there
first step is to look inside, don't hide from your own fear
face it, the disgrace you felt was undeserved, let go
pull the curtain up and let the Light shine through to you
slow your steps, turn back, don't run away from the Child within

take her gently by the hand get to know her, cry
hold her closely on your lap, see if she will smile
she is that deep part of you you've suppressed so long
she won't die, tho' you've wanted her to, but she's always been among
your terror, anger, rage and doubts of your own sanity
the babe began her life involved in hushed profanity
forgive, forgive again! what do you have to lose?
confront the horrors you perceive that were a part of you
cry out in rage and beat your fists, fight the ghosts inside
they will not die, they cannot die if you must live that lie
dig up the hurts, cut them to shreds, embrace the Child within
get to learn to give her love, the love she never had

dig up the fears, the reasons why your hardened heart's so cold
then read your story like a book before you grow too old
don't let what's buried deep inside destroy your Here and Now
dig it up and look at it then if you think you could
burn it in a funeral pyre and let it go for good

let the young girl hid within find her real Soul
realize she is your strength, the way to feel more whole
to her be kind with gentleness and help her feel at ease
then you shall integrate yourself and truly live in peace.

I absolutely love this SiStar Kylita...thank you so much for posting it in your blog. I connect to the words a lot and to think you wrote it way back in 94!

The pic is so lovely and fits the theme perfectly....bless you.

I'm hanging in there still "waiting" for the word. I'm managing to round up a few furniture items, one queen mattress to put my large organic futon on..a stand to put my tv on, a coffee table, two lamps, some sheets, etc..etc..most of them were given to me free (a few I bought at second hand stores for next to nothing)from this organization that apparently rewards you when you finally get housing...kind of like a pat on the back for "not giving up" and these people have been so kind..I thanked them from my heart...and I got hugs from each of them for "a job well done" as a "single woman" on her own..isn't that so nice?

Blessings,

Love
Rhi

Because of all the horror we live through as children, whether real or imagined, we all need to look at our inner self. And most will not.
For some it makes them stronger, others will say poor me.
I applaud you Kyle for this poem, I don't remember this or had forgotten it.

very interesting text/lyrics!
- also Jeff's and Rhi's comments!!!
intersting that so many people talk about the "horror of childhood" etc.! really makes you think what the hell is going on in this world...!!!

When our youngst son was born, my husband said, that the best ivestment you can make, is to set a child into this world, which you treat well, with all the love you have and that child will give it back to you many time4s over and over again. I didn't believe him then. my parents were evil but because of taht I at least wanted to enjoy life with my children and so it happened that we treated them well. Now that little boy is almost 18 and guess what he has already given so much more to us than we have given to him and the same for his brother.

people wonder why they both still live here, even though our oldest will soon be 26. But they like being here, this is there home and family and so far one of their friends has moved in with us as well. guess, when the time comes, their wives will too. and it's not because we suppress them so much taht they can't go away, it's because here they feel understood, here they get to do what they really want to do.

So the bottomline is: anybody who treats a child badly is a fool and an idiot and makes his own life hell!

great poem, Kylita, and have a look here:
